“Give me something I can really use”

In the height of Berlin’s sweltering summer, where could it be cooler to get together than among the Icelanders? We stopped off at the Nordic-inspired Dóttir Restaurant in Berlin’s Mitte to speak with co-owner and Accelerator mentor Moritz Estermann, and get his insights into the link between the flourishing gastronomy and start-up scenes in the German capital.

Alongside renowned eateries Grill Royal, Le Petit Royal, Pauly Saal and the Einstein on Under den Linden, the Dóttir (Icelandic for daughter) is one of five restaurants owned by the Grill Royal Group, and led by Moritz Estermann and his partners in Berlin. More familiar with the art and gallery scene, art-aficionado Moritz joined the gastronomy world in 2008, as he explains in the video. He also reveals how he came to be a mentor for METRO Accelerator, and what latest trends and industry developments have particularly caught his eye in recent months.
